You must be a member in order to attend. It is an RSVP only event. Please contact Cobi at: cobijazz@optonline.net

Hosted by Megan Haungs and Michela Lerman, this first tap party will in part be devoted to a tribute to the late Marion Coles.

It is with great sadness to pass on the news that Marion Coles, the director and choreographer of "The Silver Belles" and the wife of the late great Honi Coles, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2009. She was a beloved member of the tap community, and will be greatly missed.

Films, Songs & Tap Dancing at our Sat, Nov 14, 2009 Party at Cobi's Place

Our Second Saturday in November is Nov. 14, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Cobi's Place.

Don’t miss the excellent film Delilah Jackson will be showing, from 2 p.m: “Been Rich All My Life” - a documentary directed by Heather Lyn MacDonald.

Meet the Silver Belles, five tap dancers who performed in 1930’s Harlem at the famed Apollo and Cotton Club, with legendary band leaders like Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington. They have rich stories to tell about the history they made during the Harlem Renaissance, illuminated by a treasure trove of archival film and photos. Now aged 84 to 96, together again, after a few decades hiatus, dancing to standing ovations, from the Apollo Theater to Carnegie Hall - as sassy as they ever were! You will LOVE this film!

Because this is such a wonderful film, we are asking everyone to try to be seated by 2 p.m., so the film won't be interrupted by latecomers.

Following the screening, in her own innimitable style, Delilah will talk about the Silver Belles, who were and are close friends of hers.

Delilah will pay tribute to her dear friend, Dr Marion Coles, who died last week (Nov. 6) at the age of 94. What a life Marion lived! She was an amazing woman, beloved by all. She will be missed.

We hope everyone who is a dancer will invite anyone else who is a dancer. Let's make this a wonderful event for Marion!

We are planning to tape the tribute for the family.
