Chicago Human Rhythm Project offers over $15,000 to talented young tap dancers through our annual Leo Harris Tap Scholarship program. Dancers audition for scholarships and awards are given based on merit and financial need. Tuition wavers are used at CHRP's Rhythm World summer festival, the world's oldest and largest tap festival. The audition is open to all amateur tappers, 18 years of age and younger. We encourage all dancers to audition, so sign up today!
It's very easy to sign up:
1. Fill out the REGISTRATION FORM. To participate, you must either pay the $10 audition fee or sign up for one or more master classes. Please note that if you pay the $10 audition fee, you do not need to pay the $25 registration fee as well.
2. Fill out the SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION FORM. ALL participants must fill out and submit the form.
3. Arrive to the Fine Arts Building no later than 30 minutes before the audition (2pm).
Student Showcase
Saturday, February 6 at 8:00pm
Show off your skills, present your favorite choreography or just get more experience performing in front of your peers. Take part in the Student Showcase by sending us a video (either a DVD or an online link) of the dance you plan to perform. There is a $15 entry fee per performance; sign up on the registration form.

Music Director Paul Arslanian
Dianne Walker leads a diverse artist faculty in sharing the traditions of a variety of tap styles, from rhythm tap to musical theatre. Dancers spend in-depth time learning how to communicate effectively with musicians, develop musicality, rhythmic statements, and working as an ensemble.
Artist faculty create work on the dancers and teach the repertory standards of tap. Dancers perform these works for public July 3 and 10 on the free Inside/Out series. Daily classes concentrate on footwork techniques and use of the full body as an expressive medium. Artist faculty share their extensive knowledge of the history and evolution of tap using video clips from their own collections and the Pillow's Archives.
Attending Festival performances, talks, exhibits, master classes, and access to the Archives are part of this immersion experience in dance. Visit www.jacobspillow.org for faculty bios and program updates.
For 25 advanced pre-professional and professional tap dancers with strong performance skills, age 16 and up.

Tap Teaser V is coming your way on April 17, 2010 at the Community Education Center, 3500 Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Are you interested in performing? Drop me a line and let me know! Tap and jazz performers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to perform, that includes solos, duets, trios, and/or groups! You can show a finished piece, a work-in-progress, or you can improvise. Anything goes! Space for the April show is limited.
Since its inception in April 2008, Tap Teaser has been an opportunity for tap artists and jazz musicians to jam, show their work, interact with other artists, and most importantly, to support this vibrant community of artists! The show happens bi-yearly in April and October.

Haitian Choreographer and Family Need Housing in San Francisco
Djenane St-Juste, who is a native of Haiti and an accomplished choreographer and dancer, and friend of Dance Monks director, Mirah Moriarty, is looking for housing for the next six months, starting immediately for herself and three family members: including her mother Mambo Florencia Pierre who is a healer, renowned choreographer, dancer and co-artistic director of Institute De Danse Jaka in Haiti. Ideally, it would be a space large enough for four people (Djenane, her son, her mother and brother) and free of cost. They are currently fund-raising for money to pay for rent and food for the next months, so compensation is probable.
