JASON SAMUELS SMITH TEACHING MASTER CLASSES AT DANCEFEST 2012 Stamford, CT January 22, 2012 10th annual DanceFest hosted at the Palace Theatre. The festival is designed for intermediate and advanced dance student’s ages 10-18 years old who train at area dance schools from Westchester and Fairfield Counties. Participating this year are 21 dance schools and over 370 dancers. Students participate in master classes taught by outstanding professionals in the dance world in seven disciplines; Classical Ballet, Modern, Theatre Dance, Contemporary, Latin Jazz, Hip-Hop/Jazz/Funk and Tap. School The festival culminates with the Student Festival Performance of original choreography by dance school directors and teachers. CHLOE ARNOLD WILL BE ON FACULTY at TAP IN RIO January 24th – 28th, 2012 http://tapinrio.com.br/en/ Tap in Rio is a yearly event that takes place on the last week of January (summertime in Brazil). It runs through five days of intensive workshops and master classes of tap dance, rhythm studies, body percussion, Lindy Hop, improvisation and other themes of interest to tap dancers (Hip Hop, musical perception, stage floor amplifying, etc). An evening of performances, the Tap Challenge, jam session, tap talks, and the “Outstanding Contribution Award” help to make Tap in Rio a central event in the calendar of Brazilian tap dancers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TAP MASTER CLASS WITH HEATHER CORNELL Sunday, January 29th Heather Cornell returns to Philly for a 2 hour tap and music class with live accompaniment by percussionist Francois Zayas.
Heather Cornell is regarded as one of the world's most innovative and creative tap artists and is known for her deeply musical approach to the art form of tap. An intuitive musician known for her impeccable time and emotional phrasing, Heather tours the globe performing, teaching and mentoring new tap communities. She is artistic director and choreographer for the acclaimed Manhattan Tap, one of the busiest music/dance companies in the world in the 90's. This company provided the foundation for three generations of dancers, many who are leading the field today. She leads an all Canadian company of tap and music artists, CanTap, known for their new approach to improvised evenings. Heather is a leader in making music based tap dance - both as an improviser and choreographer, and was a pioneer in working with world music.
