SLURP by Adam Metzger presents WHEN I WAS TWENTY ONE May 11th and 12th at 7 PM The Glicker-Milstein Black Box Theatre: The Diana Center (at Barnard College) 3009 Broadway (at 117th St) Morningside Heights, Lower Level 2 (LL2)
On May 11th and 12th at 7pm, SLURP by Adam Metzger, a fusion dance company based in New York City will be staging their inaugural repertory showcase: WHEN I WAS TWENTY ONE. This showcase will include excerpts from a new full-length work that is in development as one of the first fully integrated tap dance and modern fusion projects. In addition, the showcase will include dance pieces displaying the versatility and diversity of tap dance. WHEN I WAS TWENTY ONE is an exploration of hunger and drive in finding new directions for innovative dance. How far can we stretch a genre before it crosses the boundary into another art form? Dancing on the lines between styles is an exciting new vision of bridging previously disparate dance communities, thereby bringing together performers from all walks of life. The mix of company members runs the gamut from Juilliard dancers to professional teachers at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center, to internationally recognized performers.
This performance will also be a benefit for Dancers Responding to AIDS. All proceeds will be donated to DRA.
