CREATE YOUR OWN TAP DANCE: A CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Saturdays from 1:30-3:00pm at Joy of Motion Dance Center, Friendship Heights, Washington, DC $108 for 6 week session: June 30-August 4
Heidi Schultz has choreographed over 30 dances for her two DC-based performance companies, Tappening and Tappenstance, as well as new combinations every week for her classes at Joy of Motion.
Level: No choreography experience necessary. Students should have several years of tap training.
Whether you don't know where to start or have so many ideas but no idea how to organize them or want feedback on work in progress, this workshop is for you.
We will meet once a week to discuss and implement approaches to tap choreography. Students will choreograph combinations on their own time and then bring them to class to receive feedback to help build them into a coherent piece. The goal of the workshop is to come away with a short tap dance (1-2 minutes long). At some point during the workshop, each student will also teach the rest of the class a portion of their dance.
