GOINGS ON ABOUT TOWN: DANCE
“UNDER THE INFLUENCE”
The boutique dance series, curated by the writer Valerie Gladstone,
finishes out its first season at the Museum of Arts and Design. David
Parker and the Bang Group suit up for “Slapstuck,” Parker’s ingenious
exploration of Velcro-clad romance, and excerpt some of their upcoming
autobiographical cabaret, “Misters and Sisters.” Andrea Miller and her
Gumby-ish Gallim Dance present a series of solos designed especially
for M.A.D.’s compact stage. And Jason Samuels Smith, a hoofer both
ferocious and ultra-cool, tests out the floor in “Splintered Roots,”
trading phrases with the jazz pianist Harold O’Neal. Wendy Perron, the
editor of Dance Magazine, handles the post-show Q. & A.
